Bridesmaids

The number of bridesmaids you choose to have in your wedding depends on the size and style of your wedding. A small or informal wedding may have none. A large formal wedding may have as many as ten or more.

When deciding on the number of ladies...REMEMBER: You do not need to have an equal number of male and female attendants. Your wedding consultant can arrange the aesthetics of the line-up, even if the numbers don't match up.

If you have young sisters or cousins between the ages of nine and fourteen, they may participate as Junior bridesmaids. They walk first in the procession. They do not need a partner.

Duties

The ladies in your bridal party have no particular pre-wedding responsibilities; however, they can be used to run errands, address envelopes, and help the bride in any way they can.

They should be invited to all pre-wedding events...they may also give one if they desire. They are responsible for paying for thier dresses( although the bride may assume this expense). They take part in all of the reception festivities and, if unmarried, should usually be in the front of the line when the bride tosses the bouquet.

Their Dresses

Your Attendants should wear dresses that complement your own and of the same formality. They usually wear identical dresses; however, your honor attendant should be identified by a different shade, a contrasting color, or the same dress with contrasting trim or accessories.

The shoes should be simple and match the style and color of their dresses. Their jewelry should be the same(usually a gift from the bride). The jewelry should be simple and delicate looking. Nothing flashy.
