Your Wedding Invitations and Announcements

You may be wondering what type of wedding invitations will be appropriate for your big day. Very formal with thick, creamy paper with wording such as, "the honour of your presence" OR perhaps a little less formal with parchment printed in colored ink, maybe carrying your favorite Bible verse.

Without question, this is the most difficult part of wedding planning. Almost every couple is faced with this dilemma. After you have settled on a budget and decided how many quests you wish to invite, everyone should begin to compile their lists. Who is EVERYONE, you might ask? You, your parents, your fiance, and his parents. After all of lists are compiled, plenty of time should be spent together going over them to determine who are the absolutes and who can be eliminated. As a rule of thumb....your close friends and relatives - the ones you truly care about - have priority. Be careful about inviting people you think will not accept....they may surprise you and want to come.

Choosing Invitations

The choice of style is a matter of your personal preference. There are so many slections available to you today that you will not have a problem finding something that pleases the both of you.

The style of your invitation does set the tone for your wedding. Therefore, carefully think everything through before making your decision.

While handwritten invitations may be sent for a small ceremony of less than 50 guests, for a large wedding you will definitely need invitations done by a professional. Invitations to a formal wedding are usually mailed six to eight weeks beforehand; those to a small wedding can be sent as late as two weeks before the ceremony.
