Prewedding Events

Look forward to a lot of prewedding events that will be hosted especially for you and your groom-to-be. You will most likely attend more parties during your engagement than you will at any other time in your life. Bridal Showers traditionally are friendly gatherings of intimate friends, held to honor the bride-to-be and "shower" her with gifts. Although we all love parties and gifts....these Prewedding Events should be limited to spare the bride's time and her friend's pockets. Bridal Showers are traditionally given by women who are good friends of the bride-to-be, sometimes by a relative, most often by the honor attendant or bridesmaids. Immediate members of the bride-to-be family (or the groom-to-be) should host the shower. This includes your mothers, grandmothers, and sisters.

Who Should Be Invited?

Members of both families, your attendants, including junior bridesmaids, and close friends are invited to wedding showers. Since bridal showers are rarely a surprise, it's ok and usually wise for the hostess to discuss the guest list with the bride.

The mother of the bride and the mother of the groom should also be included.

The hostess should issue invitations by phone, mail, email, or in person.

Most bridal showers are given in the daytime, with guest lists composed entirely of women. However, there is an increasing trend toward mixed showers. This is a shower for both the bride-to-be and groom-to-be, their close friends and the husbands or special dates of other invited guests.
